We aren’t big fans of the new trailer Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series.
Alright, look. We understand that game developers like to keep major plot points close to their chests. In a world of Let’s Plays and Day One reviews, it can be difficult to preserve some of the magic behind your next release. But if you’re not going to tell us anything new about your game, maybe don’t bother with a new trailer?
The video was meant to serve as the public’s first look at the series’ first episode, Tangled Up In Blue. But we’d actually argue that the 48 second teaser from last year’s Game Awards, featuring a cassette player floating through space, was actually more informative than this week’s preview. At least that footage confirmed Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series would feature the same emphasis on old music we saw in the 2014 film. The new trailer doesn’t tell us anything we didn’t already know from previous announcements.
We already knew the Guardians wouldn’t look like their silver screen counterparts and would be voiced by industry favorites like Nolan North. And early screenshots confirmed Thanos would play a role in the series. But the first trailer for Tangled Up In Blue really drives home just how much life Chris Pratt and the rest of the cast breathed into the team. The dialogue in Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series sounds pretty flat by comparison. And it’s not getting us very hyped for the series’ first episode, which debuts next month.
For an early look at Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series , take a few minutes to watch the debut trailer for the series’ first episode, Tangled Up In Blue . Then hit the comments and let us know if you were equally disappointed with this week’s Guardians of the Galaxy trailer.
Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series is in development for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. The first episode, Tangled Up In Blue , debuts April 18.
