Guilty Gear Strive developer Arc System Works is bringing utter chaos to the highly popular fighting game with the introduction of a new 3v3 mode that turns the meta upside down.

The majority of fighting games have focused on 1v1 for practically all of the genre's history where players are responsible for their own victories or defeats. However, there are many possibilities that could come from having more players on each team fighting against the other?

Guilty Gear Strive Adds 3v3 Mode

Arc System Works' latest experimental mode with Guilty Gear Strive was live in open beta this weekend and suffice to say, left many players intrigued. The developer basically opened all doors and removed all limiters on its game to bring it to the next level.

In the new 3v3 mode, Guilty Gear Strive players will have assists that each have a mind of their own and there are other sets of hands trying to take control of the action. Despite the chaos it brings, many players are enjoying the new mode, according to EventHubs.

It's also worth noting that players who are not controlling the active character will not be put into the fray without their consent. Both the active player and the backup player must agree to a "handshake" before they can switch with each other.

Another limitation of the new 3v3 mode in Guilty Gear Strive is that every player can only become the main character once per round. There is also the added benefit that both the characters who are tagging in and out remain on the field together for about five seconds.

Upcoming New Characters and Content

The experimental new mode was first announced during Evo 2024 and ahead of the top 6 bracket for Guilty Gear Strive, said VG247.

On top of the new 3v3 mode for Guilty Gear Strive, Arc System Works also announced other new content that will be coming to the fighting game. The studio also shared some new details regarding Season Pass 4.

It will give players access to four new characters over the next year, the first of which will be Dizzy, who is coming this fall. There will also be new stages and bonus content coming to Guilty Gear Strive.

Another character who is coming in 2025 is Lucy from Cyberpunk: Edgerunners in a special crossover between the two sides.

The game's Season Pass 4 is available for purchase right now and is priced at $24.99 and includes the new characters and other new content, according to BleedingCool.
