The famed Japanese developer behind the Atelier series has formally announced their next project, due out in Japan this fall.
It was only last week when Gust, the studio in question, teased this upcoming project with a website and a short video teaser. Over the weekend, its title was fully revealed thanks to the latest issue of Dengeki PlayStation; Atelier Ryza: The Queen of Eternal Darkness and the Secret Hideout is set for a PlayStation 4 release in Japan this Fall.
Since the information comes from publication Dengeki PlayStation, a Nintendo Switch version for the next title in the Atelier series has yet to be confirmed. You can, however, check out the new title for yourself through Gust’s own website for Atelier Ryza: The Queen of Eternal Darkness and the Secret Hideout, which you can find here. The world of Atelier Ryza: The Queen of Eternal Darkness and the Secret Hideout is said to be constructed through the method of expression, with its scenario being written and helmed by Gust and Shakugan no Shana manga creator Yashichiro Takahashi. The character designs, which can be viewed in the teaser below, are designed by Toridamono.
The main protagonist of Atelier Ryza: The Queen of Eternal Darkness and the Secret Hideout is Ryzalin Staud, who is just a normal, average girl feeling uneasy about her everyday life. In the pursuit of adventure and excitement, she goes searching with her friends, characters who have yet to be revealed. Ryzalin also holds a strong sense of justice, and that comes into focus in the game’s plot; she will end up discovering her love for alchemy and has her life shook following a meeting with a certain someone.
Atelier Ryza: The Queen of Eternal Darkness and the Secret Hideout, according to its developers, will provide a deeper world to be lost in while adventuring. The Atelier series shines in this focus of everyday life and exciting journeys, and Gust states that this upcoming title will give players a greater sense of the land than ever before.
Atelier Ryza: The Queen of Eternal Darkness and the Secret Hideout is set to arrive on the PlayStation 4 in Japan sometime this fall.
