343 Industries has released the highly anticipated Season 8 of Halo Master Chief Collection. The new season went live for PC and Xbox consoles yesterday. It’s also quite massive in size, so get ready to wait while you download it. The size of the update based on platforms has been detailed below:
- Steam: Max size of 19.6 GB
- Microsoft Store and Xbox Game Pass for PC: Max size of 36.2 GB
- Xbox consoles: Max size of 37.3 GB
Season 8 brings a lot of content for MCC, including more customization options, a new map for Halo 3, a custom game browser for Halo CE and Halo 3, and Firefight updates. You can also expect a plethora of bug fixes and gameplay tweaks.
New Map
A new map, Icebox, is added to the game. It is a reimagining of the map “Turf” from Halo 2. The map is only available for Halo 3 arena modes.
Custom Game Browser
From now on, both Halo Combat Evolved and Halo 3 support Custom Game Browser. Additional improvements regarding filters and search options have also been made.
Halo 3 Firefight Changes
- Per-wave customization options including skulls, dropships, map hazards, bonus rounds, and enemy squad types.
- Several new squad types including Jackal Snipers, Brutes only, Drones only, and Hunters only.
- Squads with the Sentinel enemy type, new to ODST Firefight.
There are a lot of changes that the new update brings, which you can read from the official website.
Last Season for Halo MCC
The developer also announced a while ago that Season 8 will be the last season for MCC because they want to focus on Halo Infinite from now on. This doesn’t mean that there will be no support for MCC in the future. The collection will still get updates from time to time, but nothing to this extent. 343 Industries wants to focus on Halo Infinite, which will release on December 7.
