This week’s Hearthstone Tavern Brawl is called "Blood Magic - Standard" and it gives one of the mode’s classic events a modern overhaul. Every spell you cast in this Tavern Brawl costs zero mana, but expends your health instead. You can cast Lay On Hands just to draw three cards or kill a minion with Siphon Soul for just a tiny blood sacrifice. The last time this Brawl came around, I was using my dirty Secret Paladin, which is no longer an option now that we’re playing in Standard. If you’re having trouble beating this Brawl and getting your free pack, check out our guide below.
Druid is really good in Standard, regardless of the miniscule rule change. You can go the traditional Jade Druid route, spamming one-health golems until you win the game, but that takes way too much time. Armor can also be spent as health, meaning Ultimate Infestation is super overpowered here. For five health, you draw five cards and gain a 5/5 Ghoul, that's the sort of game winning swing that nobody can come back from. If you can play a Violet Illusionist on top of that, making your spells literally cost nothing, there’s no way you can lose. She’s a neutral card and pretty much fits into any deck.
With this deck, courtesy of reddit user, Kidsune, you can win your games as early as the first turn, with Innervate, Gnash, and a couple of Ultimate Infestations.

If you’re looking for something a little less meta, there are still decks you can win with. This Paladin experiment, brought to you by another reddit user, Kresh, uses tons of small minions with Charge and then buffs them. It plays like the old Crystal Core Rogue, waiting out powerful onslaughts until you have enough spells in your hand to win you the game. Dinosize on a Stonetusk Boar is nothing to scoff at, 10/10 for one mana is the ultimate cheese machine. There’s tons of card draw, with Blessing Of Might and Divine Favor, to make sure you’ll be able to draw the right cards when you need them.
2x Forbidden Healing
2x Blessing of Might
1x Patches the Pirate
2x Stonetusk Boar
