With Blizzard yet to announce an official release date, players are starting to get antsy about the upcoming format change in Hearthstone . Reddit detectives have been digging up any information that might prove fruitful, and recently unearthed an interesting tidbit in the 2016 Hearthstone European Championship Tour rules . Article 5.1 mentions, “For the Spring Season Championship Tournament, Summer Season Championship Tournament, and Last Call Tournament, each player’s decks may only include cards that are in the current Standard format Hearthstone card sets.” The Spring Championship starts on May 2, so we know the format change has to happen before then.
According to a statement on the Blizzard website, we know that the format change won’t happen before March 27. The Hearthstone Winter Championships will take place all throughout March, ending on March 27. The HWC will use the format we currently have, which at least gives us a much more concrete time frame. Once it does get announced, the format change should be implemented pretty quickly. When Blizzard announces a Hearthstone expansion or new mode, the release date is only a few weeks away.
The sooner Blizzard releases Standard and wild formats, the better.
