Destiny 2’s anticipated content release, Season of the Drifter, went live on March 5. A ton of new game modes, items, and improvements for players are now available to explore. In addition to Gambit Prime, new Pinnacle weapons and quests, we’re all excited to see the season’s new exotics. Based on information from developer Bungie, Season of the Drifter introduces two new exotic weapons, and three class-specific exotic armor pieces.
We know that the armor pieces are going to be gauntlets, one for each of the game’s playable classes - Hunter, Titan, and Warlock. The exotic gauntlets are Getaway Artist for Warlock, Stronghold for Titan, and Liar’s Handshake for Hunters. Getaway Artist comes with the exotic perk Dynamic Duo, which will allow players to turn their grenade into a souped-up Arc Soul. Stronghold’s exotic perk, Clenched Fist, gives powerful bonuses to sword-wielders. Liar’s Handshake’s Cross Counter allows hunters to counter damage with a powerful melee attack that also heals them.
We also know that one of the new exotics is the previously-teased hand cannon Thorn, which will be available starting March 12 after the release of its exotic quest.
Thorn is a little bit different now from the last time it was teased, and comes with all-new weapon perks. These include the exotic perk “Mark of the Devourer”. Mark of the Devourer will cause shots to penetrate the target as well as deal damage over time. Kills with Thorn will also cause enemies to drop Remnants, which the player can pick up to refill its magazine and buff the damage of Mark of the Devourer.
The other new weapon, called Arbalest, is a linear fusion rifle with a twist. Arbalest will be Destiny 2’s very fist Kinetic linear fusion rifle, and will take up a Kinetic Weapon slot instead of the typical Heavy Weapon slot. With its exotic perk, Compounding Force, Arbalest looks like its meant to break through enemy shields despite being a Kinetic weapon. There’s no info yet on when Arbalest will be available, but players are bound to acquire it eventually.
What do you think about the latest set of exotics to hit Destiny 2? Will you be chasing after the hand cannon, Thorn, or will you pursue Arbalest in all of its kinetic linear fusion rifle glory?
