It has been a while since we have received a new Silent Hill game. Creator of Death Stranding and Metal Gear franchise, Hideo Kojima did release a playable demo called P.T. back in 2014 for PlayStation 4. Unfortunately, it was later canceled.
Latest rumor suggests Kojima’s new game is a reboot of Konami’s Silent Hill. The new game titled Silent Hills (with an ‘S’) will come out on PlayStation 5 exclusively. A well-known industry insider, Moore's Law is Dead, who leaked God of War: Ragnarok revealed the details.
The insider hinted that the game is in early development. It may get a mention at the Game Awards 2020, which will take place on December 10. Silent Hills seems like a collaboration between Sony and Konami. Sony will act as the middleman between Kojima and Konami. This is likely needed since the two parties had a relationship fallout.
If the rumor is true, Silent Hill fans finally got their wish . The playable demo, P.T., received positive critical reception during the release. But the public fallout between Kojima and Konami slashed it from the PlayStation Store. Konami has gone well out of their way to act like the demo didn’t exist. P.T. was previously playable on PS5 via backward compatibility. Though a software update made it impossible to run the game. Then, the 17-year old developer Qimsar remade the demo on PC, until Konami shut it down as well.
Don’t take this as an official confirmation and get your hopes high. These are still rumors. So, take it with a grain of salt. Anyway, we will know whether it is true or not during the Game Awards 2020.
