New promotional materials from a major US retailer may have outted the Homefront: The Revolution release date this week. And the beleaguered shooter appears to be headed to stores much sooner than any of us expected, given Homefront: The Revolution’s numerous road bumps in development.
To say it’s been a long and troublesome road to retail, for Homefront: The Revolution, feels like an early contender for Understatement of the Year. That’s not to say game development is ever easy, especially in the modern era, but few likely expected so many obstacles on the game’s path to retail. First, THQ closed its doors. Then Crytek sold its stake in the franchise. To make matters worse, a new developer was brought in to finish the project. But, after all of the hubbub, it seems we might finally be nearing the Homefront: The Revolution release date.
A new photograph, published by Xbox Achievements, show a reservation card for Homefront: The Revolution sporting a launch date that’s yet to be confirmed by Deep Silver or Dambuster Studios. It seems Target expects to begin filling pre-orders for Homefront: The Revolution on May 17, nearly two years after the project as originally shown to the general public. Fortunately, our last opportunity to go hands-on with Homefront: The Revolution revealed an interesting new take on the open-world shooter. So we’re not terribly worried about the final product. At least, not yet.
Of course, there's been no official word on the Homefront: The Revolution release date outted by Target. But we’ve reached out to Deep Silver, hoping to get confirmation, and will update this post if/when we hear from the publisher.
