A new trailer for Horizon Zero Dawn has been published by Sony Interactive Entertainment, just one week before the game is expected to make an appearance at E3 2016, but there’s also a bit of bad news for anyone hoping to play Horizon Zero Dawn before the end of the year.
Rather than focus on gameplay, which we’re still hoping to see next week, our latest glimpse at Horizon Zero Dawn focuses on the journey of the game’s protagonist, Aloy. We’re introduced to several key figures in the warrior’s life, including her adopted father, and given the loosest idea of how exactly Aloy ended up fighting mechanical dinosaurs with a high-powered bow and arrow.
The biggest reveal in this week’s trailer is undoubtedly the revelation that the events of Horizon Zero Dawn aren’t set on a fictitious planet and/or in some far corner of the universe. The next PS4 exclusive from Guerrilla Games will be set on Earth, albeit one that’s entirely unfamiliar to those of us who currently live here; an announcement that will undoubtedly set off a wave of speculation in the HZD community as fans try to figure out what could have left our home planet in such disarray.
Unfortunately, it looks like recent rumors that Horizon Zero Dawn won’t emerge until 2017 turned out to be true. The latest trailer for HZD confirms the game won’t be available for purchase until next February; an announcement sure to disappoint anyone who was hoping to witness Aloy’s journey before the end of 2016. That said, at least we’re less than a year removed from the HZD release date. And there’s plenty of other great games coming launching in 2016 to help kill time.
For a closer look at Horizon Zero Dawn , including some of the characters we’ll be introduced to in the upcoming open-world game, take a couple of minutes to watch the latest trailer from Sony and Guerrilla Games. Then head down to the comments section and let us know what you’re hoping to see from Horizon Zero Dawn when E3 2016 kicks off next week.
Horizon Zero Dawn is being developed exclusively for PS4 and will debut February 28, 2017.
