It is time to experience a new mixed reality racing experience in Hot Wheels: Rift Rally, now available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and iOS. This is made possible through a partnership between Mattel and Velan Studios, leveraging on the patented RC mixed reality technology of the latter. In this game, players can get the Hot Wheels experience through a mix of real-world and digital environments.
Hot Wheels: Rift Rally puts players in the driver's seat of their favorite Hot Wheels vehicles through the Chameleon RC car which can digitally transform into at least 140 vehicle variations, including iconic Hot Wheels like Twin Mill, Bone Shaker, Mach Speeder, and Gotta Go. Players can also look forward to some original vehicles.
Gameplay Experience
In the game, players start by choosing from two modes. One is the Campaign Mode where players get to create their ultimate mixed reality track. They also get to explore various challenge maps that offer multiple challenges for everyone to complete and of course, races to race.
Then, there is the Stunt Mode where players get to stunt the Chameleon without any gates and try to chain together drifts, wheelies, and burnouts. The goal is to hit high scores to earn rewards.
Personalization is also a big thing and players get access to endless customization options for the look and performance of their cards. There are also mini-games, puzzles, and challenges for everyone to try out.
Game Editions
The game’s standard edition is available for $129.99, while the deluxe edition is offered at $149.99 and comes with:
- Chameleon RC car.
- Four Rift Gates for track building.
- Charging cable.
Players can also get their hands on the Collector’s Edition which has a special edition Chameleon having black deco and gold accents. It also has the limited edition McLaren Senna Hot Wheels die-cast supercar in a display case.
In a statement, Mattel Global Head of Digital Gaming Mike DeLaet shared that Velan Studios has always been a leader in mixed reality gaming. With this game, he added that they've managed to develop a Hot Wheels experience which combines physical and digital play.
Meanwhile, Velan Studios CEO Karthik Bala revealed that they've always been proud of their ability to create ground-breaking game experiences. He went on to say that with this new title, they leveled up the RC car technology to bring the fantasy of being a driver in a Hot Wheels car to life.
