Hunters have always had pretty terrible Hearthstone Legendaries. Acidmaw and Gahz’rilla are pretty terrible in constructed. Getting a King Krush out of a Ram Wrangler is pretty sweet, but you wouldn’t want any of these dinosaurs wasting a slot in your deck.
Hunter is my favorite class, but it’s been struggling to get by ever since League of Explorers came out. Control Hunter is just too slow and Face Shaman does whatever Face Hunter could do so much more efficiently. Then Call of the Wild was revealed, which summons all three animal companions and my heart skipped a beat. Maybe Hunter won’t be just a gimmick class in Hearthstone anymore?
Tiddler Celestial has answered my prayers; he just revealed a new Hunter card on his Facebook page. It’s called Princess Huhuran (which might not be its English name) and is a five-mana 6/5 that has a Battlecry that triggers one of your minions Deathrattles. It’s stats are superb, costing one less that Savannah Highmane with the same stat line. That lion is considered the best class specific six drop in the game, and it’s even better with this bug queen. Princess into Highmane creates two extra 2/2 Hyenas for zero cost. It’s like Feign Death but not terrible.
Princess Mononoke, I mean Princess Huhuran gets even better when you start thinking of the crazy combos you will soon be able to pull off. I can’t believe how good Hunter Control is going to be when the format changes. With all the old Deathrattle minions leaving us when the format changes, Hunter is going to need to find new minions to abuse.
N’zoth the Corrupter is going to be the big guy on campus in Hunter decks. Worgen Stalker buffs Deathrattle minions in hand, which combines well with Tentacle of N’zoth and Spawn of N’zoth. Throw in a Sylvanus and whatever Deathrattle minions we don’t know about yet, and you’ve got yourself a fairly competitive Control deck.
I might even tech in a Brann Bronzebeard just for the “lolz.”
