A new single-player first-person magic shooter coming in 2023. Immortals of Aveum is set for release on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, and will serve as the debut title of Ascendant Studios, which has partnered with EA Originals Label for the game’s launch.
In the universe of Aveum, players use sigils by focusing the power within them to become more effective and deadlier in combat. Sigils play an important role in the game’s moment-to-moment magic shooter action, as well as the visceral and cinematic campaign experience.

Make it Happen
The game is made possible largely in part by studio founder Bret Robbins, also the CEO and Game Director. He had been a creative director of four big games which included the original Dead Space and three Call of Duty titles.
It was in 2018 when he started to assemble a team that would work and bring his magic shooter concept to life. In a statement, Robbins revealed that he founded Ascendant Studios with the purpose of creating original and epic games, and four years later, they’re about to finish their first title. He added that he chose EA to be the publishing partner because they have the capacity to reach the biggest audience possible. Robbins went on to say that he “can’t wait for everyone to play.”
Partner with EA
EA Partners General Manager Jeff Gamon revealed that the talent gathered by Bret and his team is incredible and they are the right people to bring this rather ambitious project to life. He added that each member of the team has experience in developing a lot of gaming’s biggest cinematic action and first-person shooter games in the past decade. Gamon said that they’re proud and excited to have partnered with Ascendant for the launch of this new game.
EA Originals is working with several new studios on innovative projects set to be released in 2023. In addition to the new title from Ascendant, there’s also Wild Hearts from KOEI TECMO and an unannounced project with Silver Rain Games.
