Japanese horror has long been offering something different for the genre. The same can be said for video games. Players around the world can now see if they have what it takes with Tsugunohi . It’s now available on Steam for $9.99.
Fans of Japanese horror games may be familiar with this one. Developed by ImCyan, the game was first released as a series of browser horror games back in 2012. For this particular version, players can expect a total of nine scenarios, seven from the original series and two new ones made for the Steam version.
For those not familiar with the series, here are the original seven episodes:
- Tsugunohi Episode 1
- Description: A male junior high school student walks on his way home from school and suddenly feels a strange chill.
- Tsugunohi Episode 2
- Description: A junior high school girl is on the way home after doing some club activities. However, she feels a rather unusual stare at her usual intersection.
- Tsugunohi Episode 3
- Description: An elementary school girl named Tsugumi returns home from school to find her mother missing.
- Tsugunohi -A Closed Future-
- Description: A high school girl on her way home mumbles “I want to start over” and leaves.
- Tsugunohi -The Cat Ghost-
- Description: An ordinary cat goes on a trip to patrol his territory.
- Tsugunohi -The Parallel Train in the Dark-
- Description: A junior high school girl travels to cram school by train. However, it looks like strange things are happening on her familiar route.
- Tsugunohi -Whispering Toy House-
- Description: A rather unassuming house lies in a quiet residential area. A girl interested in antique toys wanders in and is not aware of the horror that awaits her inside.
New Episodes
As mentioned, there are two new episodes. The first is titled Ai’s Silent Cries. The episode focuses on Kizuna Ai as she walks home after doing a live broadcast. But on the way home feels different and familiar at the same time. This particular episode was made possible in partnership with Japanese Vtuber Kizuna Ai.
The second new episode is Tsugunohi: The Ethereal Railroad Crossing. This is set in a train crossing and tells the story of a girl and a living spirit that seems to be a carbon copy of her.
