If you’re searching for a PC crack for Just Cause 3 , you may have to wait a while. The Denuvo anti-tamper security protecting Just Cause 3 from getting a PC crack is reportedly so effective that even the cracking experts on infamous Chinese cracking forum 3DM haven’t gotten through it yet .
3DM founder Bird Sister (also known as Phoenix) stated , “Recently, many people have asked about cracks for ‘Just Cause 3′, so here is a centralized answer to this question. The last stage is too difficult and Jun [cracking guy] nearly gave up, but last Wednesday I encouraged him to continue.”
But Bird Sister doesn’t harbor a lot of hope for the future of cracking. “I still believe that this game can be compromised,” she said about Just Cause 3 . “But according to current trends in the development of encryption technology, in two years time I’m afraid there will be no free games to play in the world,” she added .
Denuvo anti-tamper technology is what protected Dragon Age: Inquisition from being hacked for about a month -- just long enough to protect EA’s bottom line by forcing impatient would-be pirates to buy the game if they wanted to play right away. While the precise functionality of the anti-tamper tech is a trade secret, Denuvo explains that it prevents "debugging, reverse engineering and changing of executable files.”
"Keep in mind that most PC games are cracked and pirated on the day of release, if not earlier, so keeping titles 100 per cent piracy-free for weeks or even months is almost unprecedented in the games industry,” said Denuvo in a statement to EuroGamer .
If Denuvo’s anti-tamper tech becomes more widely adopted, will Bird Sister’s vision of a world without torrents come true? FIFA 16, also protected by Denuvo, came out in September and has yet to be cracked . But Denuvo states that their technology isn’t uncrackable: “ Some press releases call our Anti-Tamper solution 'uncrackable', [but] we are long enough in this business to have a more realistic view."
While Bird Sister’s words may or may not wind up being prophetic, the demand for pirated games should only increase as more effective anti-cracking technology delays their release. How’s your pirate bay looking these days?
