The Kerbal Space Program Enhanced Edition is coming this fall to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. With what these next-gen consoles have to offer, expect to see updated resolution and improved framerate, along with better textures, advanced shaders, and higher performance.
The announcement comes at a time when the game is celebrating its 10th anniversary. It was back on June 24, 2011, when the first public version was released digitally.
When playing the game in next-gen, the technical boost should be obvious. After all, it’s going to run at quad-high definition 1440p at higher frame rates. Even the version for Xbox Series S will boast 1080p and very high FPS.
Another advantage of next-gen consoles is the extra system memory that guarantees a more stable gaming experience. It also increases the part count of crafts and contraptions. That said, the upgraded shaders and textures allow for a truly stunning overall visual impression.
There’s no question that this is going to be the most advanced version of the game for consoles. It’s also a great way to prepare for next year’s Kerbal Space Program 2.
In a statement, Grant Gertz at Private Division revealed that for the past 10 years, the team has managed to grow the game to what it is today. The upcoming release for next-gen consoles signals another excellent milestone. Gertz went on to say that this is a good way to introduce players to the game while giving existing console players an upgraded experience.
Squad Head of Production Nestor Gomez said that the journey has been amazing and they are thankful to the community. He added that the Kerbal Space Program Enhanced Edition takes advantage of the new hardware to bring a new experience to everyone.
Kerbal Space Program is where players take charge of a space program for the Kerbals, an alien race. The game offers three gameplay modes like Career Mode where they manage the aspects of the space program, and Science Mode for space experiments to unlock new technology. Finally, Sandbox is where players can build whatever spacecraft they want.
The Kerbal Space Program Enhanced Edition is available for $39.99. Those who already have the game on current-gen consoles can upgrade to the new version for free.
