League of Legends Patch 12.10 made all champions more durable by increasing health, armor, and magic resist scaling. This is a huge buff for late-game champions as they have more survivability during early to mid-game. Champions that deal damage based on the target's max HP have become oppressive, thanks to higher base stats.
So, developers rolled out a mid-patch update to nerf some champions that suddenly become imbalanced due to the durability update. Here, we highlight Kayle and Vayne.
Kayle
The durability update buffed Kayle’s laning phase because of her increased stats, which made her less prone to being one-shotted easily. Kayle has become one of the strongest champions because of her scaling, especially at level 16 where she turns into a real threat. The developers had seen her pick rate skyrocket. So, they nerfed her slightly by reducing her health growth from 99 per level to 92, which cuts her tankiness a little bit. Her base magic resistance has also been nerfed to 22 from 26, which other AP champions or mages can take advantage of.
Finally, her Starfire Spellbalde (E) ability was nerfed because it deals missing health damage to the enemy. From 8/9/10/11/12% (+2% per 100 AP), it is now 7/8/9/10/11% (+1.5% per 100 AP) of the target’s missing health. Players can expect Kayle to be balanced further in the coming update for she seems too strong in this meta.
Vayne
Her Silver Bolts (W) ability is now deadlier because every champion has a higher HP. To mitigate its impact on the game, devs adjusted the values:
- From 50/65/80/95/110 (+4/6.5/9/11.5/14% of target's maximum health)
- To 50/65/80/95/110 (+4/6/8/10/12% of target's maximum health).
This nerf should make it a bit harder for Vayne to secure easy kills.
Plus, her base health has decreased from 585 to 550, which seems less. But it may be enough to let the other team shut her down whenever possible. That way, she will need the game to drag really late.
Similarly, Anivia, Taliyah, and Senna have received some nerfs because they were prioritized highly in this meta.
