Riot Games just concluded their livestream and announced their plans for the League of Legends 2022 Season. If you’ve missed the stream, you can check it out here.
The livestream started off with a cinematic titled “The Call,” featuring 2WEI, Louis Leibfried, and Edda Hayes. The cinematic showed multiple champions fighting enemies, while Ornn works on the Forge. After the cinematics, the developers focused on a few topics:
Pre-Season
They recapped the purpose of pre-seasons and the changes that took place in past pre-seasons.
2022 Season
For the 2022 season, the developers revealed changes to help players express themselves, like redesigned ranked crest and level borders.
New challenges that progress from Iron to Challenger. Players will also have the option to display any three challenges, a little showoff for everyone to see.
The MMR change is one of the best news players can get this time around. Now, LP and MMR are closer to each other. This should prevent the MMR from taking over LP, an issue apparent in the last season.
Skins and Events
The Events system is getting a rework that should make it easy for players to track their progress. The tokens will remain the same and can be traded for Chromas and Prestige Skins. Gemstones and Prestige Points are getting replaced by Mythic Essence as the League's main rare currency. So, spend all your Prestige Points before they are removed from the store. Don’t be scared about losing Gemstones as they will be converted into Mythic Essence automatically.
Every year the Mythic Shop will come with a different theme, and this year, the theme is Ashen Knights.
Besides that, champions that didn't get much attention, such as Gangplank, Fiddlesticks, Trundle, Rell, Rek’sai, Rell, Oriana, and Heimerdinger, are finally getting new skins this year.
So, what are your thoughts about the 2022 season? Do you think the developers will make this game more entertaining for the players with these new changes and additions?
