After what feels like forever, Taric may soon be upon us. The Shield of Valoran (as he's now called) has been in a state of ugly for years, unable to truly blossom and be “truly outrageous.” A new comic has just been released called “The Ascent” which shows Taric climbing Mount Targon. He has to avoid ghouls of doubt and naysayers who believe he will never succeed. A Targonian wrapped in a cloak asks him why he doesn't run away and Taric says, “never again.”
This comes after last week’s Facebook video that showed Taric’s ring falling into the snow. In the last PBE Taric’s hammer was seen at the Item Shop in a barrel. Other retired items like Heart of Gold lay alongside it, showing that the hammer will soon be retired. That hunch was right; Taric now has a glaive with a shiny gemstone in the middle.
The biggest reveal was found in the source code of the webcomic: Taric’s Splash art in all his gem shining glory. I nearly cried when I saw it, it was so majestic in its beauty. I was worried that Riot was going to turn Taric into a dark monster of a man. It looks like he is now a Demacian who failed at a task and now has to atone for his sins.
We still know nothing about Taric’s kit, but at least we know that he is still fabulous.
