Nintendo has announced their E3 plans, promising to show more of their 2017 Wii U and NX Legend of Zelda than ever before. Their Zelda booth will run June 14-16, opening with livestreamed gameplay at 12 p.m EDT on Tuesday, June 14.
The Nintendo splash page for their Legend of Zelda E3 presence is here.
While Nintendo has demoed gameplay from the untitled Legend of Zelda in the past, Spanish game site GameReactor reports that their E3 livestreams will run throughout the day, delivering unprecedented amounts of new footage and info about the game.
The Legend of Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma said that this new entry in the series will be “a turning point” with a “never seen” game mechanic to be introduced at E3.
Not only will Nintendo be livestreaming gameplay from E3, but for the first time attendees will be able to play the new Zelda and finally see for themselves if they’ve found a way to bring Zelda gameplay kicking and screaming into the next gen.
The Wii U and Nintendo NX Legend of Zelda will be an open-world game, unlike previous entries in the series. Nintendo has taken a lot of lessons from the 3DS Zelda, Link Between Worlds, with the new Zelda expected to adopt that entries less linear dungeon strategies. In fact, the new Zelda hopes to de-emphasize discrete dungeons entirely, instead focusing on a more cohesive, holistic open-world experience.
