The cyberpunk action roguelite game Loopmancer is finally out on PC through Steam. The game has players take on the role of a detective by the name of Xiang Zixu. He meets an unexpected death but then awakens on the morning of his death; it's one of those Groundhog Day-type games. Right now, it's being offered at 10% off until July 21.
The game is set in a place called Dragon City in the year 2046. At this point in time, neuro-comp interfaces, bionic prosthetics, and nano-biotechnology have all become commonplace. While society is highly developed, the gap between the upper and lower classes has widened even further.
The story follows the private Xiang Zixu, who's investigating the disappearance of a famous female journalist. During his investigation, he gets killed but then wakes up in his apartment bedroom. Before he can even understand what's happening, his phone rings and he is told that he has a new case which is to look into the disappearance of a famous female journalist.
Visual Aesthetics
There's no question that the map and stages are truly pleasing to the eyes, especially with the cyberpunk-style Eastern Cities. There are seven large stages which include Dragon Town, a place that comes alive in the evening. Other locations include the Shuigou Village, Tang Dynasty Hotel, Bionic Beings' Training Base, and the Biotech Company. Making the visuals come to life is the Unreal Engine 4.
Fast-Paced Battle
In the game, players can unlock new weapons and abilities through their endless reincarnations. It also helps solidify and enhance the fighting skills of the character.
Face Your Enemies
Players can expect to go against more than 30 enemies, each having unique behavior patterns; these include the typical gangsters and well-equipped mercs. Also, keep a look out for those crazy mutants and the highly trained bionics.
Rebirth Loop
After each death, Xiang Zixu awakens in his apartment and starts a new loop. As the story moves forward, reviewing what appeared like the correct choice in the past could lead to a different conclusion. Every decision made can change the fates of in-game characters and even rewrite the ending.
By the way, it's worth noting that certain areas change at random after each life loop.
