“Magic Toolbar” could be the name of the 2016 MacBook Pro’s new OLED panel according to a recent trademark filing. Fund out everything to expect at Apple’s “Hello Again” Mac event October 27, here.
On Wednesday, Apple announced it’s upcoming Mac event, dubbed “Hello Again,” which is expected to showcase the new MacBook Pro 2016 model. All throughout the year, rumors and leaks concerning the new MacBook Pro have emerged and this week is no exception.
The new MacBook Pro is expected to see a revamp to its physical form, arriving thinner and lighter than earlier models It is also rumored to feature a larger trackpad and flatter keyboard. But the feature that has us most excited is the OLED display touch panel that is expected to replace the function keys found at the top of the keyboard. The new touch pane is rumored to incorporate a Touch ID function that allows unlocking the device via fingerprint, which could be integrated into the power button slot. The touchpad is also rumored to be contextual in nature, meaning the controls do different things depending on which app or program is active on the screen.
The new MacBook Pro touchpad has thus far been referred to as a “Dynamic Function Row,” but a new trademark filing suggests that Apple’s official name for the new feature may be the “Magic Toolbar.”
The trademark filing, which was expertly hunted down by Brian Conroy at The Trademark Ninja seems to be fitting for Apple’s new OLED touch panel as it would fall right in line with other magically named MacBook features like the Magic Mouse, Magic Trackpad, and Magic Keyboard. Of course, there’s no sure way of knowing if this will be Apple’s new name for the touchpad, but we wouldn’t be surprised if we heard the “Magic Toolbar” introduced at Apple’s “Hello Again” event next week.
