In sports games, we all create ourselves with the intention of dominating the game and bragging to our friends about it. Whether we make ourselves the starting quarterback of the Miami Dolphins or the designated hitter for the Detroit Tigers, we brim with pride when we blow up the stat pages with ourselves as a created player. A NBA franchise took that approach in Madden NFL 17 with one of their star players and the results were what you would expect.
DeMarcus “Boogie” Cousins is a 6-foot-11, 270 pound center for the Kings who, despite his major talent, is known for being an overly emotional player. A career 20 point, 10 rebound player, Cousins in the paint is a sight behold as he has a rare combination of size and speed for someone of his stature. Someone the size of Cousins should not trade their basketball uniform for a football uniform – his size will instill sheer fear in his opponents.
The Kings inserted DeMarcus as the starting running back for his favorite team, the Oakland (soon to be Las Vegas) Raiders, in Madden and he became an unstoppable force. To say he dominated the game would be an understatement. Check out some of the video of his destruction of the New Orleans Saints.
Here is the press clipping of “Boogie’s” performance via the Sacramento Kings website .
“Although Madden didn’t break, NFL records did, as the 6-foot-11, 270-pound running back recorded League records of 382 rushing yards and six rushing touchdowns. Oakland defeated New Orleans by a 45-6 tally thanks to Boogie’s Barry Sanders-like moves and Marshawn Lynch-like strength in the running game.”
382 yards rushing and six touchdowns? I’m pretty sure that Cousins over the course of a full Madden NFL 17 season would set rushing and TD records the likes of which would never be seen. In real life, Cousins would be more of a fullback or tight end than running back, but we are dealing in Madden world.
