New rumors are claiming that game publishers are now delaying their game releases to make way for the most anticipated title from Rockstar Games, "Grand Theft Auto VI."
It has been claimed that game publishers are now expecting that when "GTA VI" releases in the market, it will dominate all fronts and take the spotlight off other titles.
Publishers Rumored to Make Way for Rockstar's Release of 'GTA VI'
According to a new report by The Game Business, there are now rumors and speculations circulating in the industry claiming that several game publishers are opting to delay their games that may fall along the same timeline as "GTA VI's" release.
Instead of trying their luck and launching alongside this hotly anticipated game, they will reportedly wait for the hype to die down.
Many are already expecting that once "Grand Theft Auto's" next installment drops, it will be the talk of the town. It has been speculated that it will dominate the markets, charts, and more, leading to other publishers preferring to stay away from this game's release.
An AAA-rated publisher from Europe told the publication that its "most significant concern" is "Grand Theft Auto VI's" release window, particularly if it releases towards the end of October or early November.
If it does, the company said that it will have constricted timelines in releasing its games that are already lined up.
The 'GTA VI Effect': Other Games to be Delayed Temporarily
It was revealed by Video Game Chronicles that TGB's latest report already mentioned three major global game publishers in the industry that are making their preparations to delay their upcoming titles to make way for "GTA VI."
Alongside this, Rockstar's rumored plans to launch its next installment from the "GTA" franchise also prompted two developers of live service games to "move significant updates" outside the anticipated title's launch window.
The "GTA VI effect" in the gaming industry is real, and one studio boss even went as far as to call "GTA VI" a "huge meteor" that will impact the gaming industry once it arrives, and they want to be clear of the "blast zone" once it drops.
It is still unconfirmed when "Grand Theft Auto VI" will release in the market, but it was previously rumored to be preparing for a fall launch window. Despite the lack of specific updates, Take-Two Interactive, Rockstar Games' parent company, claims that it is still on-track for a 2025 release.
