Mario and the gang are going on a new cosmic adventure and joining them are cool new allies. In Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope, Mario, Luigi, Rabbid Peach, and friends go on a journey to defeat the mysterious and malevolent entity known as Cursa, who’s determined to consume all of the energy in the universe. Teaming up with them are Rabbid Rosalina, the new Rabbid hero named Edge, and even long-time enemy Bowser.
Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope is now available exclusively on Nintendo Switch. The game comes in Standard Edition or Gold Edition. The Gold Edition includes the Season Pass as well as access to upcoming DLC packs, which offer additional story content, new characters, quests, and battles.
This single-player adventure offers turn-based tactics and real-time action. The heroes can move around the arena freely to dash through their enemies and launch off allies to reach spots outside their field of movement. Each hero comes with two action points that can be used to either attack enemies, activate a special ability, use an item, or activate Spark Power. The gameplay can be customized through a wealth of difficulty and accessibility options that makes the game a challenge to more experienced tactical players or approachable to new ones.
Players head into battle with a team composed of three heroes. The abilities of these heroes can be upgraded and unlocked through individual skill trees. It’s possible to switch up team members as long as it’s done before the battle. Because once the battle begins, it’s all locked in.
In addition, each hero can equip two Sparks to get additional abilities, ranging from energy shields to powerful elemental attacks. Sparks can be independently leveled up and swapped between heroes. By the way, to recruit new Heroes, players need to explore a variety of planets to locate and save them.
Speaking of planets, each one is open and freely explorable. Each planet has a unique atmosphere, setting, and characters, and offers side quests, challenges, and secrets for players to discover and tackle in any order. The more players explore the galaxy, the more puzzles are there to solve and activities to join.
