It's finally here! The rumors were wrong! The Mass Effect: Andromeda release date! Get ready for a whole new adventure when Mass Effect: Andromeda releases on March 21 in North America and March 23 in Europe.
The news comes by way of an official press release posted on the Mass Effect: Andromeda website. The post, written by Aaron Flynn, the general manager at BioWare, mentions the game is well on its way to completion, with BioWare employees having played the "holiday build" recently. The responses from these key members of the Mass Effect team have been highly positive, so things sound like they are going well.
"Mass Effect: Andromeda is our most ambitious Mass Effect game to date. We’re telling completely new stories, creating new characters, new planets, new species, and introducing new gameplay systems," Flynn said. "And for the first time, we’re bringing Mass Effect to the Frostbite game engine, an incredible engine that’s delivering a tremendous graphical jump from the trilogy to Mass Effect: Andromeda. To deliver on this, we’re taking all the time we can to make sure you’re getting the best possible experience."
All this being said, game development can be a fickle beast. There could still be a delay if BioWare gets caught in any last-second snags. That being said, development has taken this long and BioWare probably was not prepared to make an announcement before the company was ready.
