To celebrate Mega Man ’s 30th anniversary, Capcom announced on its official Twitch stream that a brand new game for the blue bomber is coming in the form of Mega Man 11 for PS4, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch in late 2018.
Mega Man 11 will return to the classic 2D platforming that made the franchise so beloved, but with an upgrade in visual presentation that will complement the new console generation.
Check out the first trailer for Mega Man 11 below.
The designs for Mega Man 11 will have hand-drawn characters and environments. A freshly redesigned Mega Man takes on Dr. Wily’s berserk machines, defeating Robot Master bosses and taking their weapons, in an ever-evolving fight for justice with new and unique enemy designs.
Take a look at some of the concept art for Mega Man 11.
This first image shows Mega Man in his classic blue outfit. Nothing much has changed to his design, but longtime Mega Man players know that new powers give the Blue Bomber some noticeable upgrades.
This is the first new weapon revealed for Mega Man 11, and it looks to give our protagonist some stone abilities. This will allow Mega Man to throw blocks of concrete at enemies, which seem to bounce around stages.
Mega Man gets this ability from this Robot Master. Capcom hasn’t revealed his name yet, but we predict it’ll be something like Brick Man or Castle Man.
Fans of the series will have to defeat all-new Robot Masters. It’ll be interesting to see what powers Capcom gives Mega Man or, more importantly, the order in which players are supposed to defeat them.
The announcement of Mega Man 11 isn’t the only piece of news from the official Capcom Twitch stream. It was also revealed that Mega Man Legacy Collection and Mega Man Legacy Collection 2 will come to Nintendo Switch in spring 2018.
A new Rewind accessibility option will be implemented in Mega Man Legacy Collection, allowing players to go back after dying. This feature will roll out to anyone who owns the first collection on PS4, PC and Xbox One.
Capcom also confirmed all eight games from the Mega Man X series will come to the Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One and PC in Summer 2018.
