New details on the first batch of Metal Gear Online DLC have finally been revealed by Konami, more than a month after we learned the publisher would continue to support MGO in 2016, and Quiet fans will be pleased to hear the sharpshooter is the first new character joining the Metal Gear Online roster.
The previously revealed Cloaked In Silence DLC, which adds Quiet to the list of playable characters in Metal Gear Online, will debut sometime next month, Konami confirmed this week. According to a new developer diary, Quiet will be every bit as deadly in Metal Gear Online as the sniper was throughout the Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain campaign. Particularly in the hands of players who have already become proficient snipers in Metal Gear Online.
Konami says Quiet’s pinpoint accuracy will return in MGO, regardless of whether you’re currently utilizing first- or third-person aiming, and camera sway will be reduced heavily for those playing as Quiet. She’ll also be able to move around the map much faster than the average Metal Gear Online character, will retain her Cloaking ability from the campaign, and even be able to scale ladders much faster than the average Metal Gear Online character.
In addition to a new character, next month’s Metal Gear Online patch will introduce a new game type called Sabotage. The latest MGO offering will see teams looking to protect, or destroy/fulton, a missile. Attackers will need to hack Electromagnetic Barriers (EMB), which can be reactivated by the defending team, in order to gain access to the warhead. Once the EMBs have been brought down, attackers can either destroy the missile or fulton it out of harm’s way.
Konami says fans can expect to pay $3.99 for the Cloaked in Silence DLC, which also includes three new MGO maps. The patch containing Sabotage will be free for the entire Metal Gear Online community. A series of emote-focused DLC packages will also hit the MGO store in the near future. Those interested in the Appeal packs can buy them individually, for $1.99, or as part of the $6.99 All Appeal DLC bundle.
