A brief teaser for Metal Gear Online’s upcoming Survival Mode hit YouTube on Tuesday, just a couple of weeks before the content is scheduled to go live, giving the MGO community its first real look at the new mode being introduced in Metal Gear Online’s next update.

Prior to this week, details on the upcoming Survival mode have been scarce. Reports from those who beta tested the new content suggested the latest iteration of Metal Gear Online borrowed heavily from the Survival mode found in its PS3 predecessor. More specifically, it’s been said the new Survival mode pits teams of six against one another, using predefined rulesets, with the winning team moving on to a second game with new opponents and a bigger prize. Should they win their next game, the team moves on to a third match and the prize value continues to rise. After five wins, it’s time to start over.

While no one here on the iDigi staff is fluent in Japanese, the new teaser for Metal Gear Online’s Survival mode seems to confirm many of the rumored details. Five tiers of prizes are shown in the teaser, which doesn’t include any actual Survival mode gameplay, and six names are listed on the congratulatory screen shown after the match. We also learned players will receive rare cosmetic loot as part of the prize for winning five consecutive matches. We’ll know everything when Survival mode heads to Metal Gear Online on April 7.

For a quick look at the pre- and post-match screens from Metal Gear Online’s upcoming Survival mode, take 60 seconds to watch the new teaser trailer from Konami. Then head down to the comments section and share your early impressions of MGO’s new Survival mode.
