How Is The Metalocalypse Now renewal petition doing?
Sadly, not good. It’s been over two years since Metalocalypse: The Doomstar Requiem, a rock opera special that followed up on the events of Metalocalypse Season 4, and it now looks like Brendon Small’s renewal petition has hit a wall.
Launched in Oct. of 2015, Metalocalypse Now encouraged Dethklok fans to tweet to Hulu and Adult Swim in support of a Metalocalypse finale, currently titled Metalocalypse: The Army of the Doomstar – The Final Chapter.
The hashtag for the campaign, #MetalocalypseNow, continues to be active, but the parallel petition still only has 85,169 of 150,000 signatures.
The last real movement on a possible Metalocalypse Season 5 came in the first half of last year, when Adult Swim rejected a “big mini-series” to wrap up the show.
We recently spoke with Metalocalypse writer and comedian Brian Posehn about his new movie, Uncle Nick, and couldn’t help but ask for an update:
“I just talked to him [Brendon Small] about it the other day, and he's still waiting to hear. He's got to get the right budget so he can hire people to animate it and do what he wants to do. There's been different things. I know at one point he wanted to do a special and one point he wanted to do a couple more episodes. But as I told him and I'll tell you, whatever he wants me to do I'll be in that room. The dude's a really close friend. I mean my experience working on that, I'd love to do that for ten years, but that's not going to happen. If that were my day job I'd be very happy, to go write Metalocalypse everyday, but that's not what Brendon wants to do. But I will do whatever he wants me to do.”
But Posehn isn’t the only one who’s got your back, Small. Many are hoping we’ll get to see a proper conclusion to the grand Metalocalypse saga:
