There’s no denying that Genshin Impact is truly the biggest mobile game right now. After all, it managed to bag the top prize at the Pocket Gamer Mobile Games Awards 2021. The game got the Game of the Year beating 19 other games that included Pokémon GO and Marvel Realm of Champions. It wasn’t the only award as the game also grabbed Best Audio/Visual Accomplishment.
Other winners include SpongeBob: Krusty Cook-Off taking home the Pocket Gamer People's Choice Award, and Alba: A Wildlife Adventure with Best Storytelling.
Besides games, the event also celebrated other aspects of the industry. Best Publisher Award went to Tencent, known for games like Call of Duty: Mobile. Niantic received the Best Innovation Award, which is not that surprising. After all, you only had to look at the rework they did for Pokémon GO during the lockdown.
In a statement, Steel Media CEO Chris James revealed that the Mobile Games Awards play an important role in recognizing the achievements and effort of the whole ecosystem. He went on to say that the role of mobile games became even more important in keeping people around the world engaged and connected.
