It’s inevitable now, Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered is real, and we can expect the game to launch today. It was obvious that Activision will make a remaster for Modern Warfare 2 after the success of its predecessor. Unfortunately, this time it’s only a Campaign remaster. Multiplayer and co-op will not be getting the same treatment, at least for now. And yes, No Russian is present in the game and is not censored.
Modern Warfare 2 Remastered was first rumored back in 2018. After a year without any news or leaks, the game was spotted on the Korean Rating Board. Data Miners were also able to find some files that suggested a remaster. A version was spotted on the PSN listings in Germany as well. However, the PSN page has now been removed. If all of this wasn’t enough, now we also have an actual trailer which you can watch below. Do remember that the trailer can be pulled any time.
There are already dozens of gameplay videos online on YouTube, and many have already finished the game as well. So rest assured, this is not a cruel April Fool's prank. The remaster does exist. It seems highly weird that Activision hasn’t officially revealed the game until now, because normally the publishers promotes the hell out of every single game.
However, Call of Duty Warzone was never technically revealed and was just released only one day after the official announcement was made. The Battle Royale has been a success even without any promotion. Maybe Activision is trying out something new?
The lack of multiplayer will definitely hurt as MW2 MP is one of the best MP components in the entire COD catalog. Its co-op was also no joke, and I probably spent more hours playing co-op than I did playing the campaign. We hope that an MP and co-op remaster is actually in work and Activision has hidden it very well, but that seems highly unlikely.
