It looks like we didn’t need to wait too long to know more about Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin. During the Monster Hunter Digital Event early this week, fans got treated to some new information like its gameplay.
It was in March this year when it was first announced that the game would arrive in July 2021. The game is available on both PC and Nintendo Switch. Additional information was then revealed last week.
Before we go into details, you can watch the latest trailer below:
So what’s the game about? As revealed in a post, Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin has players take on the role of a young Monster Rider. Being able to use a Kinship Stone, this character can form strong bonds with monsters. As the game progresses, players get to meet Lilia and Reverto. The two are on a quest to capture Razewing Ratha, the player’s companion. According to the duo, they hope to get their hands on this creature before its destructive power awakens as told in the prophecy of the Wings of Ruin. However, it seems that the two aren’t the only ones interested. Hunters and riders are also looking to capture the same creature for their own purposes.
In terms of gameplay, Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin follows turn-based combat. Players have access to three attack types: Power, Speed, and Technical, the same ones from the Monster Hunter Stories. To master them, players must find the right mix of weapon type, element, and skills. Players need to learn the fighting style of the monsters and then choose the right attack type to counter incoming attacks.
