Mortal Kombat 11’s release date is drawing closer and closer, and developer NetherRealm Studios is preparing for the release with a closed beta test. The beta is exclusive to those who pre-order Mortal Kombat 11 on PS4 or Xbox One. Sorry PC and Switch gamers, this one isn’t for you.
The Mortal Kombat 11 closed beta begins on March 27 at 11 p.m. EDT. The beta runs until April 1 at 2:59 a.m. EDT. The beta is only open to gamers on PS4 and Xbox One, and is restricted to those who pre-ordered a copy of Mortal Kombat 11. Along with beta access, pre-ordering Mortal Kombat 11 also unlocks Shao Kahn as an additional fighter character.
It is currently unknown what is included in the Mortal Kombat 11 closed beta. Given past betas, it’s likely Mortal Kombat 11 ’s closed beta will not include a full roster of fighters to pick from. Players will probably only have access to the limited number of already-announced fighters on the roster. For reference, last week’s Stress Test only included Baraka, Skarlet and Scorpion. While the closed beta will likely feature more than those three characters, don’t expect a full roster, or all the different stages, to play around with.
Will Mortal Kombat 11 have an open beta? We can’t say for sure just yet. Typically, games have closed or private betas before hosting an open beta. That said, there isn’t much time between the end of the closed beta and Mortal Kombat 11’s release date. If there is going to be an open beta, expect it on the weekend of April 13 or April 20. Hopefully, a potential Mortal Kombat 11 open beta also includes PC and Switch support as well.
Mortal Kombat 11 releases for PS4, Xbox One, Switch and PC on April 23.
So what do you think? Will you participate in the Mortal Kombat 11 closed beta? Will you wait until the game officially launches to purchase a copy of Mortal Kombat 11? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
