I can feel it. Bannerlord is coming.
And just in time, too. TaleWorlds first teased the existence of the game back in 2012, which is seven years ago now. Ever since, Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlord been in development, and it seemed like it was going to be in development hell forever if not for the sporadic updates from TaleWorlds through their developer diary and blog.
With the newest announcement, though, it would seem like we’re closer now than we ever were before. The latest developer diary confirms TaleWorld’s appearance for this year’s Gamescom 2019, with the witty remark that this should come as no surprise to their fans. There is a surprise awaiting everyone who attends with them, though, which is detailed below:
However, there is one key difference in our attendance this year. For the first time ever, we will be making the game available for people to play in the public area of the show. This means that anyone with a ticket will be able to visit our booth and experience Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord for themselves!
PLAYABLE BANNERLORD. Good God, what I wouldn’t give to be in Gamescom this year. Sadly, I have to watch from the sidelines (yet again) and see how far the game has come in its seven years of development. Here’s hoping the developers release some new gameplay footage as well for the fans who – like myself – won’t be in attendance.
TaleWorlds Entertainment also noted that the playable build for Gamescom will be multiplayer only, the purpose of which is to show off the revamped combat system. The play sessions will also be time-limited, in order to give chances to more people to experience the game for themselves.
You can read the full developer diary here, which is packed with more details on what attendees can expect from the first ever playable build of Bannerlord in Gamescom.
Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord is set to be released on PC through Steam, though its release date is not yet known.
