NBA 2K17 update 1.04 just finished its rollout process across PS4, Xbox One and PC, but 2K Sports gameplay director Mike Wang is already teasing what’s next. Prepare for harder shot timing, badge fixes and more.
Various tweets from Wang over the past 24 hours detail the expected changes. Chief among them is the removal of a shot timing band-aid that was purposefully installed as a temporary remedy for the infamous shot meter glitch. “Shot timing will become more difficult soon,” warned Wang. He furthered that point by saying “when I undo my band-aid fix, you will see a noticeable drop in the frequency of green releases.” Those that revel in sharpshooting shouldn’t be too concerned, however, as “sharpshooters will be just fine” under the new provisions. He also added that “it’s not going to be as drastic as some of you think” overall.
In addition to finally getting shooting under control, the next NBA 2K17 update will also focus on tightening up specific areas related to “pass speeds, moving screens and defense.” Newfound problems with the Relentless Finisher badge are being investigated as well. Following 1.04’s release, many players have noticed that it’s harder to score on even the lightest of contested shots.
As for when these adjustments will be in play, Wang mentioned that the shot timing nerf will go live after Xbox gets 1.04. As luck would have it, the update was deployed to Microsoft consoles a few hours ago. The Relentless Finisher badge tweak is planned to be addressed “asap.” Given the fortuitous timing, it’s possible that both issues might be addressed together.
For those that missed the news, NBA 2K17’s 1.04 update first went live on Tuesday, and it features remedies mostly related to glitches, crashes and black screens across all modes including MyPARK and MyCAREER.
NBA 2K17 is available now on PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC.
