Neko Atsume gave fans an early Christmas present but also a new challenge with its latest update. Sooty, the adorable whimsical cast with black spots, has a power level of 65 and a specific taste in toys. Here’s what you need to get Sooty into your backyard.

Toys (in order)

  • Giant Cushion (White)

  • Egg Bed (Nightview)

  • Zanzibar Cushion

Food

  • Bonito Bitz

  • Sashimi

It’s highly recommended to leae the Giant Cushion AND the Egg Bed in your yard if you’d like to catch Sooty. Hermeowne loves the Egg Bed and has a higher power level than Sooty, so she may kick out Sooty and lessen your chances of spotting the new cat. What’s more, I do wish the developers made Sooty a bit easier to spot—Sooty looks very similar to the other white and black cats.

We definitely wish there were more new cats in the latest Neko Atsume update, but Sooty and White Shadow will keep me busy for a while. I still haven’t received White Shadow’s ninja star memento after 22 visits—he’s a hard one to get—and I’m only five visits in for Sooty. We’re long overdue for a new remodel of the game though. The last remodel was the Cafe Style and I’m ready for a new backyard. At least the Neko Atsume 1.11.0 update gave us the following new toys:

  • Kokeshi Pot (Spring)

  • Kokeshi Pot (Flow)

  • Kokeshi Pot (Blossom)

  • Giant Cushion (White)

  • Gift Box (Green)

Again, I haven’t received Sooty’s memento yet, but stick around for an update on the page as soon as I do. Most cats typically drop their memento between 15-20 visits. It’ll be a few days before that’ll happen, but you can also check the Neko Atsume subreddit here for more tips from players as well. Have any tips on how to get Neko Atsume cat?
