Publisher Idea Factory International has officially announced a Western release version for Neptunia: Sisters VS Sisters on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC via Steam sometime in early 2023. The game first launched as Hyperdimension Neptunia: Sisters VS Sisters in Japan on PS5 and PS4 on April 21. To celebrate the official announcement of the much-hyped Western version, Idea Factory International unveiled the full opening movie for Neptunia: Sisters VS Sisters, which you can check out below.
Neptunia: Sisters VS Sisters is the latest in a long series of spinoffs for the ever-popular Hyperdimension Neptunia series. This time around, Nepgear, Goddess candidate for Planeptune, takes center stage in a brand-new story that, for the first time, uses completely new assets for the game’s many cute characters.
Neptunia: Sisters VS Sisters follows the story of Nepgear and the other Goddess candidates as they find themselves in quite the trouble. As the main Goddesses were out responding to a distress call, Nepgear and her friends are called to investigate an abandoned laboratory. However, a being called the “Ashen Goddess” trapped them in a deep sleep capsule, and Nepgear and her friends find themselves awakening two years later.
The time skip has not been good for Planeptune, and in those two years, the market has been dominated by the “rPhone,” which, if you have not already guessed, parodies Apple iPhones and the dominance of the mobile gaming market. Alongside this new player is the outbreak of a new phenomenon called the Trendi Outbreaks. Robbed of home and family, Nepgear must now go on a journey to try and find hope amid this despair and save Planeptune once and for all.
Much like other titles in the Hyperdimension Neptunia series, Neptunia: Sisters VS Sisters parodies elements from the video game industry, more importantly, the rise of trends like console wars and mobile gaming. Nepgear, usually a supporting character, will take center stage this time in a brand-new adventure.
Neptunia: Sisters VS Sisters is now available for wishlisting on the official store pages. A Limited Edition version for PlayStation will be revealed soon alongside its pricing.
