NES Classic Edition is on sale now at ThinkGeek, but maybe not in the way you were expecting. A special contest will allow consumers to sign up for a chance to buy one of the in-stock units. The process is pretty easy, and multiple entries are allowed.
To enter, simply go to the contest page [here] and provide the desired credentials. Entries are viable over email, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. You can enter using all of the listed methods for a total of six shots at the final prize. The drawing is set to take place Jan. 23 at 12 p.m. EST. Should you be victorious, you’ll be provided with a private link to buy an NES Classic for $59.99. In other words, you will not get the console for free.
ThinkGeek has held contests like this in the past for the NES Classic Edition. It should be noted that any entries in those previous promotions will not count for this one.
As with most things related to this hot item, however, the stock for this contest will be very limited. Representatives at ThinkGeek have said the winnings only account for “a few hundred units” recently shipped to warehouses. With thousands of gamers still vying for this tiny console, the odds of victory may not be too great.
The NES Classic Edition was one of the hottest gifts this holiday season, and Nintendo is still struggling to keep up with demand for this popular and affordable machine. It contains 30 of the best Nintendo Entertainment System titles from Super Mario Bros. to The Legend Of Zelda. Those with the technical know-how can also hack the unit to fill it with an additional 30 custom game ROMs of their choosing.
