Riot just released a new teaser trailer for the new champion, Aurelion Sol. It’s called “ The Star Forger Returns” and in it, a voiceover describes the insignificance of the universe. A comet zooms by, revealing a dragon made of stars crushing a sun, which is not a sentence I expected to type today. Over the week, Riot has released small clues about the champion. We got a brief trailer showing Pantheon staring into the sky called “He Has Returned” and a new announcer pack for ARAM.
We knew the next champion was going to Aurelion Sol, because of the Riot post about Ao Shin . Riot wanted to create another dragon champion, besides Shyvanna. Ao Shin was scrapped, but out of the ashes rose a new dragon. We know nothing about Aurelion Sol’s kit, or what exactly he is. He looks to be one of the Targon aspects , filling in one of the empty spaces next to Diana, Pantheon and Leona.
Riot always manages to one-up themselves when they release new champions, and hopefully this is no exception. Without a doubt, this star dragon is going to have quite the ego. Everything uttered by the dragon is narcissistic and emphasizes how little other people are compared to his might. Azir and Veigar are going to be jealous of this new celestial being. Hopefully, he can still be buddies with Bard.
