On Blizzard’s Gamescom livestream we got to see some amazing goodies. There’s a new Heroes Of The Storm map based on Starcraft and they are adding Alarak and Zaraya from Overwatch as playable characters in the MOBA. We also got a brief look at the new Overwatch short featuring Bastion which comes out on Thursday at noon EDT.

The biggest reveal of the stream had to be the new map in Overwatch , the first one since the game’s release. Eichenwalde is a castle in Germany in a small town in the middle of the Black Forest that looks straight out of a medieval fantasy (if that fantasy had broken omnics everywhere). There are winding staircases, drawbridges to cross and tiny enclosures to trap enemies.

The middle part of the map is vertical, meaning that it leaves players out in the open. You have to cross a drawbridge to move to the next spot, which makes you easy prey for snipers like Widowmaker to take you out. The map is playable at Gamescom but everyone else has to wait until September when it goes live.

Overwatch doesn't care if you've ever tried an FPS before, it holds your hands and makes you feel okay while you shoot rocket launchers, icicles and sound waves.
