A new update is now live in PUBG: Battlegrounds which introduces balancing changes to some Tactical Gear. Update 24.2 tweaks the EMT Gear and Repair Kit, but it removes the Blue Chip Detector.
Tactical Gear was first introduced back in January 2022 and at the time, there were only the Drone and EMT Gear. Then, in Update 24.1 last month, Tactical Gear became an essential item. By the end of June, the PUBG team revealed that they received feedback on specific Tactical Gear with focus on performance and gameplay.
An Early Advantage Problem
What changes were made? Let's start with the Blue Chip Detector which, according to the team, was popular with smaller maps and solo modes. While it did have a low win rate than other Tactical Gear, the Blue Chip Detector offered a major advantage during early combat since it made locating the enemy easier. Overall, its effects diminished the tension in the game and caused stress to affected players. So, its removal was the chosen solution for these issues.
Limiting the Usage
The All-In-One Repair Kit also received a nerf. There's no question that this Tactical Gear is indeed a valuable tool since it helps players repair crucial equipment. It came as no surprise to the team that this had the highest win rate. As such, the usage has been lowered from 10 to six times.
A Tweak
The EMT Gear was improved back in Update 24.1. It appears though that it had been over-adjusted and now had overly potent features. Because of this, team applied the following:
- The usage time for these heal items, when applied to oneself, has been slightly reduced.
- Med Kit usage time: 8 seconds to 7 seconds.
- First Aid Kit usage time: 6 seconds to 5 seconds.
- Bandage usage time: 4 seconds to 3 seconds.
- To retain the role of team play, the usage time of these items when used on team members has been slightly reduced.
- Med Kit usage time: 7 seconds to 6 seconds.
- First Aid Kit usage time: 5 seconds to 4 seconds.
- The revival speed of teammates has been shortened from 8 seconds to 7 seconds.
Update 24.2 is now live on PC, while July 20 on consoles. PUBG: Battlegrounds is available on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Android, and iOS.
