The new Spider-Man game revealed during Sony’s E3 press conference surprised and excited us with the thought of a new game for the web-slinging hero. While the trailer had tons of cool sights to see, there was no release date mentioned alongside the announcement. Don’t get too excited for one either, as it seems it will be a while before Insomniac announces one.

As mentioned in a tweet from the company, the new Spider-Man game doesn’t have a release date, and the company is “likely not going to announce one anytime soon.” That is sad to see, but given the nature of video game development, it’s better to hold off on announcing a release date until it’s clear the company can make it under the deadline. Seeing as how “fans” treat development delays with literal death threats, it’s probably for the best.
That being said, the trailer was captured in-engine on a PS4, so things seem to be coming along quite nicely on the development side of things. Insomniac has also been hard at work on the game for more thana year now, so that will help speed things up towards a release.

The new Spider-Man game will be coming to PS4 some time in the future, and almost definitely not by the end of the year.
