Lara Croft is one of the most recognizable names and characters in video game history. Twenty years of treasure hunting and truth-seeking led to Rise of the Tomb Raider, which arrived in 2015 to critical and fan praise.
But there is a lot more to Lara Croft than her video games, and at PAX East 2016, some of the creative minds behind the franchise joined fans to talk the impact Lara Croft has had on pop culture in the Lara Croft: Queen of Gaming panel where some awesome new projects were formally announced.
The first is a brand new original compilation of music from original Tomb Raider composer, Nathan McCree.
The Tomb Raider Suite is the name of the soundtrack and according to a Crystal Dynamics blog post, the album will include classic compositions, as well as extensions and variations of original tracks from the first three Tomb Raider titles.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for the fans, as well as me, to hear the music as I had always intended it,” said McCree.
McCree also revealed that a live performance of the suite will be performed at a major venue in London. The suite will then be recorded by a live orchestra at the famous Abbey Road Studios, and released for purchase on CD and digital download this fall.
A documentary of the recording process for The Tomb Raider Suite will also be made.
In addition to the new Tomb Raider Suite soundtrack, an anniversary book called 20 Years of Tomb Raider will explore the groundbreaking history of the franchise.
The book will include previously unpublished images, information on the lore and characters, exclusive interviews with the many people and studios that had a hand in the Tomb Raider franchise. There will also be sections for fans, cosplayers and a ton more.
No release date for 20 Years of Tomb Raider was announced.
