There is no denying that Amazon Game Studios’ New World is one of the most successful MMORPGs this year. Even though it suffered from problems, most notably the GPU issue that bricked some graphics cards, the game has a lot to offer.
Having said that, it seems that there is another thing that the developers have to worry about.
False Reporting That Led to Bans
For those not familiar with the game, there are certain territories in the fictional world of Aeternum where factions can vie for control by declaring war. Of course, this faction event would require members of the affiliated companies to be online and active to participate.
However, it seems that some people are getting banned due to false reporting. In fact, this has been discussed extensively on Reddit and in the game’s official forum.
User @Nevkrision said that their company was about to go to war but some of their top players were temporarily banned for 24 hours due to mass reporting by their rivals. The user added that the developers should look into this and that abusers must be punished.
One user replied that @Nekrivision may not find a resolution to this problem because developers will have to admit that their system is flawed. They went on to say that the current GMs are doing a bad job of looking at the tickets and conducting serious investigations.
The game’s reporting system appears faulty and prone to abuse. User @Nubkek said that they got randomly banned three times in a row for nothing.
On Reddit, one user said that 50 people of their 100-person company have been banned due to the same issue, which forced them to relinquish their hard-fought territories. Redditor @Ulf67 replied : “False reporters should be banned.”
Redditor @FluzooTV also has a similar stance in that those who abuse the reporting system must be permanently banned without warning.
By the looks of it, this issue has gotten out of hand, and developers should really put their time and attention into making sure that the game is fair for everyone. They should also think about penalizing those who have abused the system so that no other person will be brave enough to do the same thing in the future.
What do you think? What is the best thing that the devs can do to rectify the situation?
