Publisher Nexon and developer Nexon Korea have updated their free-to-play third-person shooter formerly known as Project Magnum. Now called The First Descendant, the game will soon be moving to its beta testing stage, with Nexon urging interested players to sign up on PC via Steam. Pre-registration officially opened yesterday, along with further details released via The First Descendant’s official Steam page.
The beta test will run from September 28, 2022, to October 4, 2022. The exact time frames will be announced separately, according to the post. To register, you only need to visit the official store page on Steam with your account logged in and press the “Request Access” button. If you’re accepted within the registration period, an email will be sent to your Steam’s official account email, where you can check and accept the invitation email.

The First Descendant, despite only having PC confirmed for the beta, is also coming to PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4. This information comes from an earlier trailer unveiled on the official PlayStation YouTube channel, back when the game still went by Project Magnum.
The First Descendant will feature completely free-to-play gameplay with co-op support for up to four players. It also features various unique characters, exciting gunplay, and looting mechanics. Your character grows via the equipment you receive from the many scenario missions or in the World missions where you cooperate with other players to take down huge bosses.
Developed in Unreal Engine 5, The First Descendant tells a story of how the player character becomes a Descendant in the game, tasked with fighting otherworldly invaders for the survival of humans on the planet and protecting the Ingris Continent. The player character can equip up to three guns, four secondary equipment, and various sub-weapons to achieve their goals. The game also features other mechanics, such as free movements, skill sets, and chain actions using grappling hooks.
