For some, word of a Ni No Kuni sequel was easily the biggest news of this year’s PlayStation Experience. But anyone preparing to taunt their Xbox-owning counterparts, about the exclusivity of Ni No Kuni 2, might want to hold off for a few months. At least until we know just how exclusive Ni No Kuni 2 will be.

Those paying close attention, during the Ni No Kuni 2: Revenant Kingdom unveiling, may have noticed a small discrepancy between the presenter’s words, which described NNK2 as a PS4 exclusive, and the text shown at the end of the Ni No Kuni 2 announcement trailer. On Sunday night, a fan decided to ping Sony Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida about the matter. Unsurprisingly, given Yoshida's heavy usage of Twitter, the fan received some clarification from the Sony executive.

According to Yoshida, the words “console debut” appear at the end of the Ni No Kuni 2 announcement, instead of “timed exclusive” or “platform exclusive”, because the Ni No Kuni sequel “may come to other consoles in the future.” The possibility of seeing Ni No Kuni 2 on other platforms might come as a bit of shock to some fans, considering the original remains a PS3 exclusive; however, it’s worth noting that we still very little about the next entry in the Ni No Kuni series. It’s entirely possible you won’t need to have played the first game to understand the upcoming sequel.

To see more of Ni No Kuni 2, take a couple of minutes to check out the short NNK2 trailer that debuted during the PlayStation Experience keynote. Then head down to the comments section and let us know what sorts of changes (if any) you’d like to see in the Ni No Kuni sequel.

Ni No Kuni 2 is being developed by Level-5. There’s currently no word on when the project will debut.
