A new trailer for Ni no Kuni 2: Revenant Kingdom is out this week, following its debut at the 2016 PlayStation Experience, alongside new information about the Ni no Kuni 2 release date. Our latest look at the game is only two minutes long, instead of the 10-15 minute gameplay video many fans would prefer. But the good news is the Ni no Kuni 2: Revenant Kingdom release date is much closer than we expected before Sony’s annual gathering.

The last time we checked on Ni no Kuni 2, Level-5 CEO Akihiro Hino confirmed kingdom building will play a role in the upcoming sequel. Unfortunately, new information on Ni no Kuni 2’ s gameplay is in short supply this week. The game’s latest trailer features numerous people and places from NNK2 , many of which haven’t appeared in prior footage, but there’s no way for fans to determine where any of them fit into the narrative because dialogue has (understandably) been removed.

The new footage does suggest combat could change substantially in Ni no Kuni 2: Revenant Kingdom, showing several encounters where King Evan and his allies are the focal point of the action, instead of their creature companions. But it’s also possible Level-5 just wants fans to know grinding out battles between diminutive allies won’t be the only action we see in next year’s sequel to Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch.

To see more of Ni no Kuni 2: Revenant Kingdom , take a few minutes to watch the trailer from this year’s PlayStation Experience. Then head down to the comments section and let us know if you’re planning to buy Ni no Kuni 2: Revenant Kingdom at launch.

Ni no Kuni 2: Revenant Kingdom is in development for PlayStation 4. The game is scheduled to debut in 2017.
