A new leak details the alleged latest plans of Nintendo for its Switch Console's current generation. According to the leaks, the company is reportedly planning to release a Switch OLED.
The leak comes as a surprise considering that the company is also gearing up for the official launch of its next generation console, the Switch 2.
Fans are eagerly awaiting the release date of the Switch 2, with April's Direct event set to answer the questions behind it.
Nintendo Has a New Switch OLED Version Says Leaks
The original release of the Nintendo Switch OLED dates back to four years ago, with the gaming giant giving the world the mid-cycle update to the gaming console with an upgraded screen.
However, four years later, a trusted leaker known as billbil-kun shared a new scoop behind a rumored upcoming new version of the Switch OLED.
According to the leaker, Nintendo is planning to share a new console color for the Switch OLED version, and instead of its original release's black colorway, it will now be in red and blue. It is important to note that this does not talk about the Joy-Cons, but the console body itself.
Alongside the Switch OLED's new console colorway, there will also reportedly be a game voucher for "Super Mario Bros. Wonder," the 2023 game that is widely regarded as one of the best modern releases of the franchise. Lastly, the voucher also entails users a three-month Nintendo Switch Online membership.
The new Switch OLED bundle will reportedly be available for $349.99 in the United States, and this is the same price tag as the console-only Switch OLED release, making it a far cheaper option for those who want to purchase it.
Moreover, the leak speculates that this new Switch OLED will be announced by Nintendo next Thursday, Feb. 27.
Is the Switch OLED Still Worth It Amidst Switch 2 Era?
Despite this new colorway announcement, many fans are already bashing Nintendo about this release, should it be legitimate, with one going as far as to say that nobody would buy this console.
Other fans claimed that they would rather be patient for several months and await the official launch of the Switch 2, which is expected to shed more light on its actual release.
The Switch OLED console gave the world a bigger and better version of the Switch gaming experience as it offers a larger built-in storage, an upgraded kickstand, and other nifty features, which were a notable upgrade.
Getting the new Switch OLED bundle for those who cannot wait for the Switch 2's release is still advisable for those who want to save a few extra bucks compared to the new console.
