'Nioh' Release Date Confirmed During TGS Presser; Global Launch Coming February 2017

The official release date for Nioh is finally public knowledge, following PlayStation Japan’s annual pre-TGS press conference, but it looks like Team Ninja and Koei Tecmo are going to miss the game’s 2016 launch window by a few months. On the plus side, we won’t have to wait much longer than expected to get our hands Nioh.

The Nioh release date wasn’t the only big news during the Koei Tecmo portion of Tuesday’s press event, either. The publisher also announced a collector’s version of Nioh that includes a handful of additional items, including the Nioh Season Pass; however, the special collector’s version of the game has only been confirmed for Japan at this time. That said, we’d be shocked if Koei Tecmo didn’t have a similar offer, if not the exact same package, available in other regions too.

Unfortunately, Tuesday’s presentation didn’t include any new gameplay footage, screenshots or other Nioh media. Fans have already been given a chance to see quite a bit of the game for themselves, via alpha and beta tests, but many fans would’ve loved to have some new footage or information to discuss alongside the news they’ll be waiting a bit longer for Nioh to ship.

For a closer look at Nioh, take a few minutes to watch the game’s latest trailer (at the top of this page). Then head down to the comments section and let us know if you’re planning to pick up a copy of Nioh when the game heads to PS4 early next year.

Nioh is in development exclusively for PlayStation 4. The game debuts Feb. 7, 2017.
